The Location

The Virginia Master Teacher Seminar will be held on the campus of Hampden-Sydney College. Hampden-Sydney is an independent, liberal arts college for men near Farmville, Virginia. The college was founded in 1776 by Virginia Presbyterians with guidance from such state leaders as Patrick Henry and James Madison.

Participants will enjoy the genteel atmosphere of the Hampden-Sydney campus. All the ingredients necessary to provide a delightful, restful, yet invigorating educational experience will be evident. Facilities include a library and learning center, tennis courts, Olympic swimming pool, a variety of hiking/jogging paths, comfortable meeting rooms, and a private air-conditioned residence hall.

This south-central location is within easy driving distance of Thomas Jefferson 's home in Charlottesville, Appomattox Court House, Patrick Henry 's home at Red Hill, the Capitol at Richmond, and Colonial Williamsburg.

Hampden-Sydney College is located six miles south of Farmville, Virginia, just off U.S. Route 15. For participants arriving by airline, we recommend flying into Richmond International Airport. We will provide free shuttle service between Richmond and Hampden-Sydney on the opening and closing days of the seminar. Since space is limited, please inform us in advance to reserve your space.
